Located in the booming East Village district of downtown San Diego, the new offices for ACM Architects and C&G Engineers is a renovation and addition to a warehouse built in 1940. The workspaces are open to the Douglas fir bowstring trusses and the existing concrete floors were sand blasted to expose the aggregate. The building area was increased by a third with the addition of a partial second floor, which with its polycarbonate guardrails provides a dramatic overlook to the studio below. The existing exterior façade was renovated by replacing the existing infilled windows with new storefront glass and custom copper/nickel metal panels. |
